My First Look: a look at November 2019 for your preschool kids

October 30, 2019

Hello Parents,

“Can you say thank you?” How many times will a child be asked that question in their preschool years? We ask them again and again because we want to help them learn to be thankful. This month is all about saying thank you. In fact, we are going to be bubbling over with thankfulness in the Bubble Factory, our theme for this month.

Throughout the month, preschoolers will learn to be thankful for their family, friends, and food. And, they’ll learn that saying, “Thank you” is just as important as being thankful.

NOVEMBER 2/3

Week one, we are going to thank God for our families.

Story Focus: I can thank God for my family. Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz were so thankful for the family God gave them. When you go from no family to lots of family, you start bubbling with thanks!

NOVEMBER 9/10

We will thank God for our friends in week two. Friends help us, encourage us, and make us laugh.

Story Focus: I can thank God for my friends. We can read about two great friends, David and Jonathan, in the Bible. They cared for one another and even shared their things.

NOVEMBER 16/17

During week three, we are going to thank God for our food.

Story Focus: I can thank God for food. If we could talk to Moses and the Israelites as they ate their manna, they would be sure to remind us to bubble with thanks for having choices and plenty to eat!

NOVEMBER 23/24

Finally, we are going to talk about simply saying, ‘thank you.’ For everything.

Story Focus: I can say thank you. Even if we’re the only one, we want to be that one who remembers to say thank you. Just like the one leper who said thank you after Jesus had healed ten of them. This story reminds us that most people are not bubbling with thanks, so we need to choose to be the ones who do.

Imagine the preschoolers in your church learning to tell God thank you—for everything—all while having fun with their small group leaders and friends. Imagine them growing up giving thanks to the Lord with their whole heart.
